 The 1982 movie "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" also helped put the brand on the map with Sean Penn's character rocking a pair of classic Vans shoes.

 Today, over 40 years later, Vans shoes is still going strong, changing with the times to reflect modern styles and themes and creating shoes for men, women, children and babies.

 Vans sell footwear and apparel for casual wear and for activities such as skateboarding, snowboarding, BMXing and motocross. Many of Vans current shoe designs are created by professional skateboarders, while other designs reflect popular bands or TV shows on their canvas uppers.

 Vans Era shoes: Simple and stylish, the Vans Era shoes were released in 1975, but were originally known as “Vans #95.” The Vans Eras came with a comfy padded collar and a variety of colour combos, the Era was hugely popular among skateboarders in the 70s.

 Vans itself operates more than 200 stores in the western US and in Europe, and merchandise is sold in stores all over the world, in national chain stores and in skate, surf and specialty shops. The tradition continues, with both modern and traditional Vans shoes available in shops everywhere.

 Vans has also succeeded outside of the shoe business: in 1998 the company opened a 46,000 square-foot indoor-outdoor Vans Skate park at the Block in Orange County. Since 1995, Vans has sponsored Warped Tour, an annual summer music festival that tours throughout North America and features punk, rock, reggae, metalcore and ska bands.
