Awhile back we heard that Converse was teaming up with Gorillaz to create four distinct designs, including a military theme on a black/brown canvas hi-top shoe with their famous Pazuzu character. Everyone was eagerly awaiting the release, which came out a few days ago. The new Converse x Gorillaz shoes feature the classic Chuck Taylor All Star silhouette with the band’s legendary graphic images.
The Converse x Gorillaz collaboration is unique as Gorillaz are credited with creating a new genre of music, bringing together hip hop, alternative rock, pop and electronic music. They have sold over 15 million records worldwide.
Co-creator Jamie Hewlett is an award-winning designer who used elements from the Gorillaz' albums and other influences to create the collection, which will also include a Converse “Three Artists. One Song” original track titled “DoYaThing” featuring Gorillaz, James Murphy and Andre 3000 of OutKast.
Don't have the cash for the Converse x Gorillaz shoes? The free track will be available for download at www.converse.com on February 23, 2011.
